Full Moon in Cancer: January 13th, 2025

We opened the year with a New Moon in Capricorn, and now we’re approaching the end of this phase on January 13th with the Full Moon in Cancer. However, this phase actually started six months ago during the New Moon in Cancer on July 5th, 2025. Full Moons represent a period of culmination and illumination, so this is a closing of a cycle associated with Cancer themes: home, foundations, family. 

The Moon feels at home in Cancer as this is its natural ruler. Cancer connects us to our emotional layers, our intuition, and connection to home and family. During this Full moon, our emotions will become amplified and there can be this heightened sensitivity to our inner world and external relationships.

With the Moon in Cancer, we may feel more introspective or turn inwards to nurture either ourselves or others. There’s a need to tend to our emotional world and revisit matters tied to our roots and sense of belonging.

This Full Moon is pushing us to evaluate the structures we’ve built around emotional security. If you’ve been clinging to outdated patterns, relationships, or beliefs out of fear of letting go, this Full Moon will illuminate what needs to be resolved. 

The Full Moon in Cancer will also sit at a conjunction to Mars Rx in its fall. Expected an internalized frustration or some simmering tensions to bubble to the surface. The Full Moon conjunct Mars may amplify the likelihood of emotional outbursts, defensiveness, or conflict–especially within the home or close relationships.

However there is an energy of compassion and empathy to lean into when things feel emotionally overwhelming. With Neptune in Pisces, it will trine the influence of the Full Moon and Mars conjunction. Trines are a harmonious flow of energy, so it does soften the harsher edges of this conjunction.

With so much heightened emotional energy taking place, there’s also the ability to express any frustrations into creative expressions with ease. Art, music, journaling, meditating, and connecting with water can be particularly helpful during this time.
