New Moon in Aquarius - January 29th, 2025
On January 29th, we are having our first New Moon of the year in the visionary sign of Aquarius. Aquarius energy encourages us to think outside the box and approach things from a new angle. While Leo is focused on “ME”, Aquarius is all about “WE”. During the New Moon in Aquarius, we’re encouraged to consider the collective, the future, and how we contribute to humanity. We’re being asked to reflect on what needs to evolve within ourselves and in the world around us.
This New Moon is also aligned with two other planets in Aquarius: Mercury and Pluto. With Mercury in Aquarius, our thoughts and conversations naturally gravitate toward big ideas like political debates, humanitarian concerns, and unique perspectives. Pluto takes this to extremes, it intensifies, obsesses, and desires. There’s a strong urge to express ourselves and claim our space, but this intensity can easily feel overpowering. A little mindfulness can keep interactions productive rather than overwhelming.
Adding a silver lining to this intensity, the New Moon in Aquarius is receiving a positive trine from Jupiter in Gemini. Although Jupiter is retrograde, it still brings optimism and expansion; but more so internally. We’re being asked to look within and see what needs changed. What outdated habits do we need to release? Jupiter gives hope and optimism to the Aquarius New Moon, suggesting that the seeds we plant now are all part of a much larger picture.
Another thing to take note of is Aquarius’ modern ruler, Uranus, turns direct motion in Taurus a day after the New Moon. Uranus has been retrograde since September 1st, 2024, really allowing us to reflect on what change needs to take place to create better stability. It’s an opportunity to revolutionize the areas of our lives that have felt stagnant. However, with so much electric energy in the air, watch out for nervous tension or sudden emotional reactions.
